
Dongfang Nangong is an International female independent filmmaker and creative storyteller. Based in Washington, D.C., she has filmed in China, Taiwan, Turkey, South America, West Europe and the U.S.
Her professional video and film production trip started from working as director assistant for a series of documentaries in Shanghai Media Group 8 years ago. Since then, her professional media products span a variety of platform, from print and radio to photography and video. Her first student film work has been screened at a variety of festivals, including DC Independent Film Festival, DC's Environmental Film Festival, VISIONS,and Environmental Filmmaking (CEF) Scholar Award. Her professional works have been aired through public TV stations including Shanghai TV station, I-State TV station and Maryland TV station.
She is a world traveller, and has a very mature understanding of different cultural values and identity. She is always pursuing an original perspective to dig into the cultural roots through her unique storytellings.
In2016, she was awarded an MFA in Film & Electronic Media (focus: documentary film production) from American University's School of Communication. She also possesses a MS in Journalism and statistic minor from Iowa State University. She got her BA in Journalism and Communication from Shanghai International Studies University, in Shanghai, China.
